As the blogger finally emerges this morning and is working on the recap, here is a hand history from last night's Texas Turbo Friday Madness involving The Festivals' very own Melvin Schroen.
The blinds were at 1,000/2,000 with a 2,000 big blind ante. Schroen opened from the cutoff to 4,200 and was three-bet by the button to 10,000. The blinds folded, and Schroen called.
He check-called a bet of 6,500 on the flop of K 10 J before the Q was checked around. The 9 put a straight on board, and Schroen checked again. The button then bet 15,000, and after some deliberation, Schroen folded.
He found the money, finishing in 23rd place for his effort, and was coolered in the process. He open-jammed approximately 13 big blinds from under the gun with Kings and was called by the big blind, who was playing a stack of around 15 big blinds. He made the call with fives, and a five in the window sealed Schroen's fate and sent him up to his hotel room for the night. Unlucky lad!
