Acroud Charity Tournament Returns During The Festival in Tallinn
It is less than a week until the second stop of The Festival Series kicks off at the Olympic Casino Tallinn, and the preparations are in full swing. Along with numerous side events, The Festival in Tallinn will once again feature a charitable fundraiser organized by the event's parent company, Acroud.
The Acroud Charity Tournament will see eight players representing Acroud, The Festival Series and their partners: Matching Visions, PokerListings, Coolbet and Olympic Casino, competing for an €8,000 prize pool in support of a good cause. The sum will be then split 60/40 between the winner and the runner-up and donated to their chosen NGO or Charity.
The Acroud Charity Tournament (Event 16) play will begin on Day 2 at 19:00 CEST and will be live-streamed via The Festival Twitch channel.
"I have always believed that the game of poker carries a tremendous potential to create good in the world, and I am delighted that so many of our partners are keen to join the Acroud Charity Tournament table in Tallinn. No matter who the winner is, all proceeds from the event will benefit a wonderful cause," said Mauritz Altikardes, Head of All Poker at Acroud.
"Finally a tournament when being a fish in poker actually makes no difference, it is 100% going to a good cause" commented Martin "Franke" von Zweigbergk, Director of Live Events at Acroud.
Coolbet's Ylva Thorsrud won the previous Acroud Charity Tournament during The Festival in Bratislava. Her prize money (€4,800) went to Tallinn Children's Home - Tallinna Lastekodu, while the runner-up PokerListings' Kresten Hougaard, donated his share (€3,200) to Shelters for Abandoned Animals in Malta.
In addition to the prize pool, the Gambling Cabin's Bengt Sonnert has donated another €1,000 to a charity of his choice - Suicide Zero.
"This charity tournament is a great initiative and a very positive way to kick off The Festival Series. I am super excited I can play poker for a worthy cause, and Coolbet winning the fundraiser event once again would put the cherry on top of the cake!” said Svein Olav Eidseter, Poker Manager at Coolbet Norway.
"There was no way that Matching Visions could miss the Acroud Charity Tournament, as we had so much fun at the table last year!" said Dennis Dyhr-Hansen, CEO of Matching Visions. "In Tallinn, our team will be represented by our Affiliate and great friend, Simon, and if he manages to bring us a title, we'd love to donate our share to Puttinu Cares. Having lived in Malta for many years, this organization's effectiveness cannot go unnoticed by locals and ex-pats such as myself. Puttinu Cares is the children's cancer support group facilitating accommodations and assistance for over 60 patients in 30 hospitals outside Malta every month," he added.
The 2022 Festival Series season starts in Estonia, from 27 June to 3 July 2022. The venue chosen for the second event of the series is the flagship Olympic Park Casino, located in the center of Tallinn at Hilton Tallinn Park hotel, offering players a Vegas-like experience.
