The company behind Optibet started out in 1999 in Latvia. The currently known name Optibet was introduced to the market in 2008, just after the company was acquired by Redbet Holding AB in 2007. Initially, the focus was on sports betting and during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, live betting was introduced for the first time. In 2012, Optibet started to offer online casino games on its platform.

In 2013, the Optibet structure changed and major expansion plans began. One year later the operator obtained an Estonian EU licence and operations in Estonia were launched. At the end of 2018, Optibet was acquired by the Swedish company Enlabs AB. The operator still focuses mainly on the two Baltic countries Latvia and Estonia but is looking to expand its poker room to other markets as well.
