Tournament Spotlight – Blackjack on schedule of Malta
Blackjack is a popular card game that originated in France in the 18th century. The game has evolved over time and spread throughout the world. The object of the game is to beat the dealer's hand without going over 21. The game has been featured in numerous movies and is a staple in both land-based and online casinos. It is also known as 21 and is considered one of the most popular casino games in the world. At The Festival Series at Portomaso Casino in Malta, we mixed Blackjack into our week of poker, with a twist as it’s being played out in tournament form.
History of Blackjack
Rumours say that Blackjack has been initially been founded by Frenchman around the 1700s. A game which was then called ‘’vingt-et-un’’, happily changed its name to Blackjack not soon after. As from our event in Tallinn, back in June ’22, the Blackjack tournament got its first edition in the books and was eventually won by Estonian Marek Kotelnikov. Throughout the other events we organized, this tournament gained in popularity and in Malta, it is once again part of the fully packed schedule. Wednesday 17th of May the cards will be shuffled up and dealt as of 16:00 CET.
The event has been proven to be full of action and a lot of laughter. All contestants aim to become the Blackjack King of The Festival, where the atmosphere is just a bit more loosened up compared to other events. It is a great event as well to steam off a bit from all the poker action, or to let your partner who maybe doesn’t play much poker, can join in on. It’s a perfect game for great banter and the event in Malta is definitely going to be played down to a winner, who will get a nice portrait as well!
