Fred “FriDiGiDi” is The Hendon Mob Champion

Fred “FriDiGiDi” has won €250 The Hendon Mob Championship (THMC) at The Festival in Malta. The player, from Germany also anonymously finished second in last year’s THMC at The Festival in Bratislava.

Fred was already one of the chip leaders when there were 30 players left and by the time the nine players final started, he held a commanding lead controlling a stack of over 2m chips, while none of the other eight players had more than a million. He played a strong game in the early stages of the final, using his stack to his advantage to increase his lead further, raising with much higher frequency than his opponents.

He does also have one of the best card protector/chip guards we've ever seen, who looks like he's enjoying it just as much as Fred. We've no idea what the name of this little orange guy is, but we've nicknamed him Max.

Yay, I did it!

The first player to exit also chose to remain anonymous, as did the player in eight place. They were seven handed for almost two hours before there was another elimination. The Greek duo of Georgious Tavoularis and Nikolaos Tsitsos finished in 7th and 6th respectively.

As you can see, the reporting of marquee events where most players wish to remain anonymous is a rather painful experience for both the writer and the reader and only one of the remaining players released his name for publishing.

Congratulations to Stewart Kirby who finished in third place, not for the result, which must have been quite painful, but for allowing us to print your name.

It looked like Stewart had 2nd place locked up, however the anonymous player from Scotland who had been down to less than 8 big blinds kept winning his all-ins.

After eliminating Stewart Kirby in 3rd place, Fred had a huge lead, but his opponent just wouldn’t go away, continuing to double up a few more more times before the final hand took place.

Our roving social media reporter Vaclav ‘Lemon’ Dusek was there to capture the action in the closing stages of the final and captured the winning hand, which can be viewed on The Festival’s Instagram page

Fred picked up €14,600 for his win and was delighted to have won the event, having gone so close last year in Bratislava.
