The Festival Series Recap – Day 7

Day 7 saw The Festival Series hit the one-week mark here in Rozvadov in the Czech countryside. Today marked the calm before the storm going into a busy weekend here at King’s Resort, but four winners were crowned across various tournaments throughout the day, and more players joined the Day 2 field in the Main Event, which commences on Sunday. Let’s jump in.
PLO 4/5/6 (7-Max)
Ville Hakala of Finland added a first Festival Series title to his three cashes here in Rozvadov. He bested Leslie Smith of the United Kingdom heads-up to take down the title, as well as the 71 unique entrants that took to the felt yesterday afternoon.
Andrea Di Giovanni fell victim to the bubble and departed in 18th place. It then took just shy of two hours for the final table of seven to be assembled, with Finland and Germany having two representatives each.
Another hour elapsed before two hit the rail, leaving play five-handed. One more went by, and Hakala had the majority of chips in play when facing Smith for the title.
Ultimately, Smith couldn't overturn a massive chip deficit in a very high variance game, and Hakala took down the title in a round of traditional four-card PLO after just over nine hours of total tournament play.

H.O.R.S.E
The sole mixed game tournament of the day saw a small field of mixed game fanatics take to the felt, most of which were seen in the 8-Game yesterday and the Mixed Game Main Event HORSES a few days ago.
The tournament attracted a field of 43 unique entrants at 2 p.m. yesterday. There aren't many better ways to spend a Friday afternoon in Rozvadov if you ask this particular poker blogger!
The final table of nine was assembled with the players yet to be in the money, as only seven would find themselves securing a payout.
Siarhei Narozhny found himself out of the tournament just before the money had been reached, and The Festival founder Martin "Franke" von Zweighbergk found himself in the money for the fourth time this Festival.
Ultimately, the tournament ended in a seven-way ICM chop at around midnight, with the remaining €300 and title being decided by a famous "Franke Flip". For those not in the know, it is a PLO flip, with each player revealing one card preflop, a second on the flop, a third on the turn, and a fourth on the river.
The defining caveat is that the players are not allowed to look at any of their cards and must turn them over blind. BERSERK came out best in the flip, as he made the nut flush to beat flopped trips. Despite not taking the most amount of cash home, he took the title. Below are the payouts.
