Friday’s Winners at The Festival in Malta

Friday at The Festival in Malta delivered us another five champions, all of whom will receive their winners drawing trophies before the end of the week.

Siarhei Narohzny Wins Open Face Chinese

The €250 Open Face Chinese was the earliest starting side event on Friday, beginning at 12.30pm and with over it took over fourteen hours to reach its conclusion. The final table of three players included Franke and Scott ‘Pokerbrahs’ Kenyon, who had made back-to-back runner up finishes on the previous two days. However “Scott Fell Short Once Again,”* busting in 3rd place, putting himself in pole position for the Player of the Series Award.

After Scott busted, the final two played on for over three hours before Siarhei Narohzny defeated Franke. Narohzny had taken a significant lead into the heads up stage. but Franke fought back and held the lead on three separate occasions before Siarhei eventually emerged victorious.

This is the second OFC victory of the week for Belorussian Narohzny, who also won the Vamos Poker Tour version last Sunday. He also is the first player who had won an event at The Festival in Rozvadov, to also collect a trophy in Malta.

Festival Queens

Noelia Rico from Sweden and Radica Kanani from Portugal chopped the Festival Queens for €924.50 each, with Noelia taking the title. It was a good spirited tournament with 22 entries and we even streamed some of the final table via The Festival's Instagram page.

Deepstack Championship

Casinotogether’s Milan Ljubisic from Germany won the Deepstack, topping a field of 133 players for a €7,850 payday. Matteo Kerbaol from France was second. Milan is still in the Main Event with one of the largest stacks late on Day 2.

Added Bratislava Package in the €125 NL Texas Surprise

The NL Texas Surprise did indeed have an extra prize, which was a €550 Bratislava Main Event Seat for the players who was eliminated on the bubble. Usually when writing an event report, I might refer to “the unfortunate bubble boy” but in this case, the value of the consolation prize was worth more than 6th place prize money, with 11 players being paid.

The lucky loser was Bartolomiej Grabowski from Poland, who won the Heads Up tournament this week. The tournament was won by Aleksiy Baranovskiy for €3,130.

Gia Carnestrom and Scott Kenyon Chop the Big O

The final tournament of the day was the Big O and this threw up another nice little story. Scott Kenyon, jumped straight into this just after busting the Open Face Chinese in 3rd place. Gia Carnestrom had been watching the OFC final and when Scott said he was off to play the Big O, Gia decided to join him.

Several hours later on a final table that once again featured Karev Tralla (4th place) they found themselves heads up for the title. Instead of playing it out, they did an ICM deal, with Gia taking €3,506, slightly more than Scott's €3,294 and claiming the title. There were 54 entries in the event. Congratulations Scott, as with his 4th podium finish and second of the day, he has put himself firmly in the driving seat for his second Player of the Series title.

Gia is one of the most stylish players who regularly attends The Festival and two days ago she celebrated her 25,000 day alive. She's now 25,002 and enjoying life like the poker champion she is.
