The Stakes Are High as the Main Hits a Century

Look what the bloggers can win!

In the Main Event, the field now comprises a nice round 100, and there's some serious discussion and small sums of money changing hands at the bloggers' desk regarding how many survivors we each think will make it through Day 1a.

Of the 100 entries so far, 88 still have chips - players of note keeping the dream alive currently include Peder Behr, who finished 25th in The Festival in Tallinn Main Event earlier this year, and absolute poker legend and (sometime guest commentator for The Festival) Ylva Thorsrud. We're just coming up to the end of Level 4 (100/300/300) and feel as though that's a little early to do chip counts, but with a third of the day already behind us, we should start to see things getting interesting soon. We'll be playing 12 levels today, as indeed on every Day 1 (there are five in total), and players are allowed up to two re-entries for each starting flight. Registration stays open right up until the end of Level 14 on Day 2 (Saturday), so there is potential here for really an awful lot of entries. I suspect that the serious business discussions at the bloggers' table will soon turn to the important matter of whether or not we're going to make that €500,000 guarantee. It's early days yet, but my money will be on "yes".
