€150 PLO Championship

German national Horst Boeschen became the first tournament winner, having won the €150 PLO Championship for €3,246, a very solid return considering the tournament ran for just over seven hours and the €150 buy-in.

The first PLO event saw 97 total entries, 59 of which were unique and 38 were re-entries. He bested Tiago Martins, who had a big stack throughout the latter stages of today's play, to secure the victory. Martins also burst the bubble by busting Helga Droege to take the field down to 13.

Players seemingly dropped like flies after the bubble burst and the final table quickly reached. Even then, the pace was maintained with four early departures around twenty minutes into the first level of final table play. Before anyone could blink, three-handed play was reached, and it took around an hour for Boeschen to take the victory.

Words From the Winner

Boeschen told The Festival that he was "very happy about the win," adding that he "won a PLO event here last year," which was a €150 PLO tournament for €2,224 before adding that he had "finished third in another event in the same year." This podium finish came in a €250 PLO Freezout for €1,955.

Outside of the PLO streets, Boeschen shared a fondness and a clear passion for "2-7 Draw, 8-Game and HORSE" events. He added, "The games here are very nice, I like it here in Rozvadov."

He intends on playing for around "nine days" so expect to see Boeschens name floating around in the upcoming PLO and Mixed Game events.

Boeschen's first hands of poker were played "in 1974, when I was a student in Berlin studying Law and Order. After the handball club, my friends and I would go and play."

Evidently, the time spent in his youth has paid dividends as he secured his second win in Rozvadov. Maybe there is more to come?

That's all for now folks from here in the Czech countryside, stay tuned for continued coverage of what is set to be a glorious additon of The Festival series.
