The Festival Series – Tour de Propbets!

In poker, it is very common to have side bets on the line with your fellow poker buddies. When we dive into the past of prop bets of which we are aware, Martin 'Franke' von Zweigbergk is often the leading subject of the story. Want to challenge the man himself? Grab your chance during one of the many Tea Gatherings!
`The Festival Series stands for harmony, meeting new friends, and players from the other side of the world, and having a blast all together. There are 50+ poker- and casino tournaments, daily hospitality events, Franke’s Flip Flops, and much more. To spice things up even more, prop bets are an absolute blast among friends.
Battle of the Fishes
During the first leg of the Battle of the Fishes at the end of last year, best friends Martin ‘Franke’ von Zweigbergk and Mauritz Altikardes were streaming their online escapades live on twitch. Both are well-known for their farmer-hood, and both have a strong preference for live poker, which is reflected in their online poker skills as well.
Of course, when bringing their illustrious banter to the people via the live stream, a prop bet couldn’t be left out. They had agreed eventually on doing a last-longer challenge, where the loser of the bet had to go by bike from Vienna to Bratislava in 2024.
Franke busted out way before Mauritz, giving him already the cramps when thinking he had to go 'a la Lance Armstrong' on his own from Vienna to Bratislava. But.. If you know Franke at least a little bit, you know there is always a second chance!

Battle of the Fishes – Part 2
And of course, roughly a couple weeks later it was time for the second part of the Battle of the Fishes. A low buy-in satellite tournament, giving out plenty of full packages for the next upcoming live stop. But the eyes of Franke and Mauritz weren’t set on any of the packages, as they came to a deal to do yet another prop bet.
This time, it would turn out to be a double-or-nothing deal. If Franke would lose the last longer challenge, he would have to go cycling from Vienna to Bratislava, and back!
If Mauritz would somehow lose, he then would have to join Franke, and take a bike alongside Franke for the trip to Bratislava.
As a good friend that Mauritz is, he lets himself bust out of the tournament before Franke. Meaning that they would had to give each other company during the 'Tour de Bratislava'. `
What are the Current Standings of the Bet?
During the previous summer time, Franke had visited Bratislava for the Swedish Championships. After months of training on his spinning bike, back home in Estonia, he decided to make the everlasting trip by bike and honour his part of the prop bet.
Fastforward to November 17, 2024, despite many reminders and opportunities, Mauritz Altikardes still did not find the right timing for his part of the deal. Even though he had been in Bratislava at least twice this year, business got hold of him, leaving him standing on the sidelines so far.
There are roughly 6 weeks left before fireworks will be blasting into the air for celebrating New Year, but will we perhaps have an earlier fireworks show? We surely will keep you posted about any developments!

Challenge Franke with Epic Prop Bets during The Festival Bratislava!
As you might know by now, it is possible to gather for some ‘Tea-Time’ for every single player in Banco Casino, between 19:30 and 20:00 local time. The location of these gatherings is set next to the Franke’s Flip Flops table, in the area between the two biggest poker rooms of the casino.
Whoever wants to join is more than welcome, and of course, the idea is to meet other players, and have a good time off the tables as well. To add to this, during this time you can also come up with some epic propositions for propbest with Franke!
Let’s see if he is up for some epic battles on the side!

Franke & History of Prop Bets
- Crazy prop bet between Franke and Janar Kokk: Back in 2016, friends and fellow poker competitors Franke and Janar met each other during the Cash Game Festival in Bulgaria. What the best consisted of, you can watch back during one of the livestreams of PokerStrategy in the past, where Franke explained in detail how the prop bet came to live. It turned out that Janar Kokk had lost the bet, and as a ‘punishment’ had to spend a certain period living on the outskirts of Poland. The media in Poland got hold of it, as they, of course, did not agree with making it a ‘punishment’ to live in their beloved country. All in all, the bet turned out to be one of the wildest ones to date.
- Mauritz and Franke goes to Tallinn: During The Festival Series in Tallinn, back in 2022, it looked like it was the carnival edition when Mauritz Altikardes turned up in a suit which was completely pink! By questioning his taste of elegancy, he then admitted to having lost a prop bet with good old farmer Franke. We have to say, it took quite some courage to be dressed up as shiny as he was that day, but we know Franke hugely respected Mauritz for honouring the deal between them.
- Monika "HeyMonia" Zukowicz and Franke's Grudge Match: The pair decided it was time to decide who was the best poker player among them, and played 3 sets of best-of-three heads-up matches. Franke had mentioned that 'everyone can beat her', so Franke had the option to choose two random players to take it up against 'HeyMonia`, and if there was a third match needed, Franke himself would step in. It didn't end very well for 'Heymonia', as she lost the first two games, and never even got to play Franke! The prop bet conditions pointed out the following: If Franke would win, Zukowicz was tasked to drive from Sunny Beach, Bulgaria to Faro, Portugal to pick up an "extra spicy chicken Piri Piri" and deliver it to Tallinn, Estonia. If Franke lost, he would have to work as a cashier at the supermarket concern Maxima in Estonia. It turned out to be a car ride of over 8,500 KM for Monika Zukowicz!
