Winners from Day 5 of The Festival in Malta

The fifth day of the festival in Malta to Place on Thursday, 12 September at Portomaso casino in Saint Julian‘s. In addition to the third flight of the Main Event, there were also several other tournaments taking place which came to their conclusions.

Lewis Aikman Wins €1100 highroller

61 players contested The Festival no limit Holden highroller, playing for the first prize of €18,500. Lewis Aikman, who won the tournament is having a fantastic week, finishing as runner up in The Hendon Mob Championship on Thursday. At that final table his friend Stephen McCabe had railed and cheered him on, but in the high roller they faced each other heads-up at the business stage of the tournament. Both players are from Scotland and travelled together to Malta. Lewis is relatively new to live poker, his only previous results on The Hendon Mob database are from the last few months.

Timothee Marlin Rode the €250 H.O.R.S.E to Victory

The H.O.R.S.E tournament started early in the day was contested by 46 players many of whom are familiar faces on The Festival series. The final four included William Lynch, Antoine Degiorgio and Frank Visser.

Frank had dominated the tournament throughout, but his chip lead was surpassed by Frenchman Timothee Marlin, when he knocked two players out in one hand to burst the bubble. Timothee, who now lives in Malta but grew up in Cameroon went on to win the event for €3,680. As always, it was played out in a friendly manner with much joviality at the table. With William and Antoine both on the final table, that was never in doubt. Frank took second place, Antoine third and William was the fourth place finisher.

PLO 4/5/6 Card

The evening’s Pot Limit Omaha event was a 4/5/6 card version with a €250 buying. It was won by Mario Eder from Austria, who scooped the €4,950 first prize. Scott Kenyon Felt short once again*, claiming the runner-up spot for the second day in a row, but putting him in a strong position to secure his second Player of the Series award in less than a year. He very nearly won the gong in Rozvadov, but was pipped to the post by Thomas Gugerbauer.

*This was the headline suggestion from William Lynch when Scott took second place in the 8-Game. Seems very appropriate now.

Slots of Skill Tournament

The most skilful game of the entire Festival Series schedule took place on Thursday evening, the slots tournament, with many fruit machine pros turning up to stake their claim in a rare to find event. Rare to find anywhere else, but a firm favourite on every Festival Series schedule. It was won by Markus Salo from Finland for €1,596. He spoke to Wiseguy afterwards to talk through his masterclass worthy button pushing victory. He confirmed it was pure skill, but is not giving his secrets away.

"No, I didn't use RTA to secure this slots victory"
