The Festival Goes Off the Beaten Track – Side Events in Bratislava

This week we released the schedule for The Festival in Bratislava running October 10 - 16. With 50 events over seven days, the weeklong tournament is ripe with poker and casino action and will offer games in over a dozen variants.

Of course, the grand highlight of the Festival in Bratislava is the €550 Main Event with a €500,000 guarantee. In this article, we want to highlight all the mixed games we're offering during the week.

Sviten Special

Starts: Monday, October 10, 16:00

The first big tournaments of our two previous Festivals were Sviten Special tournaments and in Bratislava, we will once again offer the fun mixed game right at the beginning of the week. For a buy-in of €250, you can play the popular game which is a mix of Draw Poker and 5-Card Omaha.

If you want to know how to play the game, check out this video tutorial:

PLO Masters

Starts: Tuesday, October 11, 17:00

Omaha tournaments are already established and Omaha is the most popular poker variant besides Texas Hold'em in Europe. With four instead of two cards increased action is guaranteed and also in later levels of the tournament, post-flop play is of vital importance.

For €250 you can play our first PLO tournament on Tuesday. With only 20-minute levels, this is a quick event that should be over before the end of the night.

8-Game

Erno Suominen

Starts: Wednesday, October 12, 14:00

You will not find many poker festivals where 8-Game tournaments are offered. At The Festival Series we take pride in being able to offer this difficult tournament variant for a buy-in of only €125.

8-Game consists of eight different poker variants which are played for one orbit each. The games are Triple Draw, Limit Hold'em, Omaha-8, Razz, Stud, Stud-8, No-Limit Hold'em and Pot-Limit Omaha.

The guys over at PokerListings have a good guide on how to play 8-Game.

PLO High Roller with €20,000 gtd.

Starts: Wednesday, October 12, 17:00

For all PLO fans, we will once again offer our PLO High Roller tournament during the week. With a buy-in of €1,100, this is our most expensive tournament (joint first place with the NLH High Roller) and we guarantee a €20,000 prize pool.

Heads-Up No Limit Hold'em

Starts: Thursday, October 13, 13:00

The one No Limit Hold'em tournament we have to list among the mixed is our Heads-Up tournament which we're offering for the third time. Those types of tournaments are very hard to find in live casinos and we're proud to be able to offer a heads-up event for a buy-in only €250.

If you plan on playing this, make sure to register in time as this event has no late registration and the number of players is limited to 32.

H.O.R.S.E.

Starts: Thursday, October 13, 13:00

Alongside the Heads-Up Event, we're also running another big mixed game event, our €250 H.O.R.S.E. tournament. This is one of the oldest mixed game formats and the variant played switched every orbit between one of the five following games:

  • (H) Hold 'em
  • (O) Omaha Eight or Better
  • (R) Razz
  • (S) Seven Card Stud
  • (E) Stud Eight or better

All games are played as limit variants, meaning you need to be well versed in all formats to stand a chance.

PLO 4/5/6 Cards

Starts: Thursday, October 13, 20:00

5 Card PLO

If regular PLO is too boring for you, we have just what you might need – a mix of three different PLO games which drastically spices up the action. Our €250 PLO Mix consists of three variants: Regular PLO, 5-Card PLO and 6-Card PLO.

The 5- and 6-card variations are played exactly as regular Omaha, except for the number of hole cards each player received. The standard Omaha rules still apply – you must use exactly three cards from the board and two hole cards to make your hand.

Open Face Chinese

Starts: Friday, October 14, 13:00

Open Face Chinese is a game that can be played for points and some cash whenever you have one or two opponents and a spare half hour. At the Festival Series, we turned this pastime game into a proper tournament. For a buy-in of €250, you can play this open card poker variant which is one of the most skill-based poker variants.

If you want to play for more money, we're also offering an Open Face Chinese High Roller on Sunday for a buy-in of €1,100.

PLO Freezeout

Starts: Saturday, October 15, 14:00

You are not too keen on playing re-entry tournaments? We can help you out. Join our Pot Limit Omaha Freezeout on Saturday. For a buy-in of €250, you get exactly one bullet and cannot re-enter. With 25-minute blind levels and a starting stack of 25k the tournament has a semi-slow structure and allows for a lot of poker to be played until the end of the night.

We're looking forward to seeing you in Bratislava and we hope you join one of the off-the-beaten-track tournaments as they have proven to be great fun in the past.
