The Festival Meets Unibet Qualifier – Richárd Bróda

The Festival Series Rozvadov is roughly one month ahead of us. Online satellites are running wild, and Unibet Poker is one of the main reasons for this. Every single day there are feeder satellites available which all lead up to the main Weekly Qualifier on Sunday, where a whopping 2x €1,500 full packages will be guaranteed to be awarded to the winners.

Operator: Unibet Poker

When looking back at the past weekly finals on Unibet Poker, we can conclude that on average a total of 3 to 4 packages are being handed out. One of the lucky winners of such package, where you can choose between Rozvadov/Malta/Bratislava, is Richárd Bróda from Hungary.

We came in touch with Richárd, and asked him how he came in touch with the game of poker, as well about his journey towards winning a package for The Festival Series.

Melvin, The Festival: Let’s start with your package win on Unibet Poker! Congratulations! What made you decide to play this satellite on Unibet Poker and where did you hear about The Festival? You have a choice between all our three events this year to go to, as Unibet Poker didn’t select only Rozvadov as a destination. What do you think about the upcoming tournament schedule?

Richárd: ''Hello Melvin, thank you! I've found your event on Unibet, I just started to play satellites online for live events, and you just came up, so I thought; let's give a try! Unfortunately I am not able to go to Rozvadov, so I chose the Malta stop in September instead. About the schedule, it seems cool, a lot of type of games, I hope it will be something similar in Malta as well.''

Melvin, The Festival: We have had events in Bratislava, Malta, Tallinn, and Nottingham. If there is one country always decently represented at our festivals, it’s your home country; Hungary. Can you perhaps share with us the current status of poker in Hungary? And what made you come in touch with poker?

Richárd: ''I am not surprised, Hungary has a lot of good poker players, especially in MTT’s. I started playing, when I was 17 years old, but before that, I always loved to play any type of card games. So it is not a big thing, that I enjoyed it really much. And after that I realized it's not just fun to play the game, but I could earn money with it as well. It was a real no-brainer.''

Melvin, The Festival: The satellites at Unibet Poker are going through the roof at the moment. Weekly on average 3 to 4 packages are being awarded to players. Do you consider yourself an online- or a live poker player? Will you continue the hunt for more packages now that you have bagged one already? (Why would you recommend playing on Unibet the satellites?)

Richárd: ''I play online 95% of the time, but one of my short term goal is to play live events, and try to achieve something. Sure, when you get a package, you realize that if you did it one time, why not try to go after for more. To be honest with you, if I do not win a package, I would still maybe go for Bratislava as well in November''

Melvin, The Festival: With our event, we offer players a great mix of great poker action, but also put an accent on the social part of the game. Mixed games, casino game tournaments such as blackjack, roulette, and slots, but we have also our Hospitality Events where we take the crowd on side activities such as city tours, restaurants/bars, board games, and other cool activities in the area. What do you think about this concept and what in your opinion is important for live events?

Richárd: ''I do not think that the schedule is missing some games, you did a great job to balance. You have major tournaments and side events with various buy-ins for everyone, who would like to play. For me personally, I like that the structures are great. We have time to play some good poker, and because I am playing a reasonable time of heads-up poker, I am really looking forward to play that heads-up event too.''

Melvin, The Festival: Let’s add a fun question here. I believe that the way someone is playing at the poker table is a great reflection of how someone stands in life. But if you had to choose any kind of animal in the whole world, which would reflect you the best as a poker player, what would that be and why?

Richárd: ''I would say a panther or a tiger maybe. Have to be patient, but when it is time, you have to go for hunting alone. 😊''
