The Festival Series and Olympic Casino Host Estonia’s First-Ever Outdoor Poker Tournament!

The Festival is enjoying a great collaboration with Olybet this year, having hosted a very successful weekend stop in Vilnius. Now, the collaboration continues at Olympic Park Casino in Tallinn, a city home to many members of The Festival team. Both The Festival and Olybet like to do things differently, which is why The Festival Founder, Martin "Franke" von Zweigbergk, decided to host Estonia's very first outdoor poker tournament on the second floor. The sit-and-go was a seven-handed affair which was incredibly well received by the players who took to the felt on the terrace in the summer evening sunshine. Here is a look at the players in attendance and what happened during the evening.

The Players Making History

The field was comprised of members of The Festival Series as well as friends and industry connections. Andreas "Wiseguy" Hoglund, Melvin Schroen, and "Pljuw" were representing the team, with Michael Bedulskis of iPoker also taking to the felt. Frederik Zitting and Henrik Visuri rounded out the lineup. There wasn't just poker on offer for the VIPS. Hospitality is a key part of The Festival philosophy, and they were also treated to refreshments and fancy finger food to indulge in whilst they played and got to know each other before the cards were first dealt.

The Rundown

Visuri came into the game full of enthusiasm and a big smile but ultimately couldn't turn these positive vibes into run good, and he was first out. "Wiseguy" was perhaps not so wise this time around, departing in sixth place. Zitting was next out, before Schroen was stacked in fourth, leaving play three-handed. No one wanted to be out in third, despite it being a payout spot. However, the twist in this tale is that the third-place finisher would have to pay out instead of getting paid, and the reward (if you can call it that) was to buy a round of drinks. Visuri loved this idea, saying it was the best prize, as "you gain friends instead of money," and promised before the off to buy two rounds if he were to finish third. Ultimately, the Finn Riku Naakka finished third and had to get the round in, leaving the Pljuw and Bedulskis heads-up for the title of being the winner of Estonia's first outside tournament and a package worth €1,600 to Malta.

In the end, it was our very own resident rockstar Pljuw who took down the title. The editor extraordinaire and frontman of the rock band Marry Me, Joseph, claimed a Main Event ticket worth €555 for his efforts, with the package going to Bedulskis as a member of staff was exempt from winning the top prize.

"Franke" was incredibly proud of his video editor, saying, "He didn't just win, he crushed them!" He went on to add, "It feels amazing to have the chance together with Olympic Casino to host the first ever outdoor tournament in Estonia as an opening for an epic The Festival Weekend Tallinn to come!"
