Czech-Mate! Ondřej Már Wins €550 Main Event for €91,001! 17.06.2025 02:42 by Patrick Cole

The final day of this Festival Series saw a new winner crowned in this year’s Rozvadov installment of the €550 Main Event. Ondřej Már of Czechia emerged victorious after a 12-hour stint at the tables here at Europe’s palace of poker, King’s Resort. With this career-best score, he has taken his total live earnings to $424,083. His top four cashes of his career have come here in Rozvadov. Let’s run down the highlights.

A field of 22 took to the felt at the start of play today/yesterday at 1 p.m. sharp local time. That number quickly shortened up as eventual final tablist Rasmus Lundstroem caught Matteo Intiso speeding on one of the two outer tables. Intiso was the first out in today’s play.

Czech national Tomas Fara was next to go, and the first elimination of today’s feature table as he lost a flip versus German Andreas Rauch.

The sole remaining lady in the field, Anja Wisney, was dispatched by eventual winner .Már flopped the top two pair to crack Wisney’s pocket jacks. Mourad Tounnouti, the Netherlands’ sole representative, quickly followed suit.

“Andrey” and “Mr B” were stacked by Rauch on the feature table. Both players were all in for sub-10 big blind stacks, and Rauch had them both covered by heaps. His eights held against sevens and a suited king to send two players to the rail.

Next, it was Karaminev’s turn to depart as he ran into cowboys after jamming his nineteen big blind stack with queens. from the button over an early position open from another final tablist, Giuseppe Grupposo.

Stefanos Michalidis departed in 13th, an unlucky number for some (not for Festival photographer Mairo Toom, though) and is certainly the case for Michalidis. Rauch and Fare were eliminated in quick succession, with the latter also running into cowboys. He jammed his short-stack from the button against Grupposo, who again had Kings from early position.

Vasyl Pidhrushnyi was the victim of an ace from space after he called off a three-bet jam versus Ondrej Mar, who was climbing up the counts consistently.

Ten remained at that point, and one player had to miss out on making the Main Event final table and a shot at the first place prize of €91,101. That player was Samuel Saariano, who was the final elimination on the feature table before the players assembled to form the final table.

Final Table Play

The final table was reached after around three and a half hours of play, with Már, Richard Koppel, who started the day as an overwhelming chip-leader, and Giuseppe Grupposo in first, second, and third, respectively.

Georgian Giorgi Surmava came into the final table in sixth, but he doubled up through Lundstroem, who started in fourth. Another cooler spot, Lundstroem had queens, and Sumarva had kings, which left Lundstroem short.

Kuablek accumulated some early final chips, courtesy of multiple barrels from Koppel into his flopped Broadway straight.

“Easy Game” didn’t have such an easy game, and he couldn’t spin up his short-stack and was the first casualty of the final table.

the-festival-rozvadov-main-event-final-day-day3-final-table-vitor-hugo-marques-rebelo-0179

Lundstroem was left even shorter by “Schulle” as the German doubled through him with a superior ace. It was then Lundstroem’s turn to double as his kings held against Mar’s ace-queen suited.

Grupposo was next out, as once again, queens ran into kings in a pure cooler spot around half an hour after the end of the first break in final table play.

Lundstroem then doubled again from short-stack to middle of the pack, but then fell around twenty minutes later, losing his short-stack in back-to-back hands.

“Schulle” was short for most of the final play and was eventually toppled by Koppel in sixth place, having moved all in for his final five blinds.

the-festival-rozvadov-main-event-final-day-day3-final-table-pedro-schulz-0161-1

Finnish national Sami Pullianinen was active throughout and decided to run a bluff on Oliver Kubalek of Sweden. Kubalek was a non-believer and called Pullianinen with ace-high on a board containing trips.

Surmava doubled through the native Czech Már to stay in contention, having turned a boat in a preflop all-in situation.

Már continued to chip up and got paid with a boat, cracking Koppel’s queens in the process.

the-festival-rozvadov-main-event-final-day-day3-final-table-sami-aleksi-pulliainen-0189

Pullaianinen’s time came to an end at the final table as he found the solver special. He elected to three-bet jam ace-five suited for 18 big blinds from the big blind versus Kubalek’s cutoff open. Unfortunately for the Fin, Kubalek had Big Slick, and he made top-top to finish off Pullianinen.

Surmava was the shortest stack after Pullianinen’s departure, and he was next on the chopping block. He jammed 4,150,000 from under the gun with king-ten suited for around 11 big blinds and was sent packing by Kubalek, who called in the small blind.

Three-Handed Play

Mar showed great understanding and situational awareness throughout today’s play. He opened to 900,000 with the blinds at 200,000/400,000 with a 400,000 big blind ante with K Q . Koppel three-bet to 2,700,000, and Már called.

The 9 J 2 flop was checked around before both players hit the K turn. It hit Koppel harder as he made two pair, and he bet 3,500,000. Már called. Koppel attempted to trap on the 2 river, but Már didn’t bite and checked back, losing the perceived minimum.

Már then proceeded to put Kubalek in the blender as he four-bet jammed ace-king offsuit versus Kubalek, who had tens. Kubalek tanked for five minutes before shipping his cards face down to the dealer.

The final three briefly discussed a deal, but those talks were quickly put on ice before the players headed off to an impromptu 30-minute dinner break.

the-festival-rozvadov-main-event-final-day-day3-final-table-ondrej-mar-0145

Play resumed about as even as it gets in terms of distribution, as each player had at least 30% each of the total chips in play.

Koppel won a few uncontested pots and put himself ahead to put some distance between himself and his opponents.

However, he lost a flip with tens after calling a limp-three-bet jam of 25 big blinds blind v blind. Már had ace-king off and binked a king on the turn to secure the double up to 50 big blinds to put Már in a significant lead.

A few hands late, Már raised with ace-queen off from the small blind, and Koppel called in the big blind. Már flopped top two on A Q 10 and bet five big blinds into Koppel who called. The 7 turn saw Már size up to a bet of 10 big blind,s and Koppel called again.

The river 10 paired the board and put Koppel all in, and he snap-called and was eliminated to Már superior two pair, taking play heads-up.

the-festival-rozvadov-main-event-final-day-day3-final-table-oliver-samo-richert-kubalek-ondrej-mar-0371

Heads-Up

Már came into heads-up play with a whopping 94% of the total chips in play, as his 99 big blinds played Kubalek’s 6 big blind stack.

It was Kubalek who struck first, doubling up with ace-eight off suit versus jack-three suited. He paired his eight to scoop the pot to chip up to 11 big blinds.

The next hand of note involved Kubalek doubling again after Már jammed queen-duece off on the button. Kubalek flopped trips with ten-seven suited and turned quads to stay alive.

Kubalek continued to take from Már, chipping up to 26 big blinds after jamming on the turn with a pair and a flush draw with 6 3 versus Már’s 6 4 . The board was 9 7 6 Q .

Kubalek then chipped up to 31 big blinds after flopping trips and check-raising the turn, which forced Már out of the pot.

The Swede continued to chip away at Már, winning numerous small pots pre and post-flop. Remarkably, Kubalek chipped up to hold 45% of the chips in play when the recount was published on the stream 45 minutes into the heads-up duel.

the-festival-rozvadov-main-event-final-day-day3-final-table-0343

It was then Már’s turn to take down numerous pots as he continued to apply pressure to maintain his chiplead.

Már scooped a sizeable one when defending ten-nine offsuit in the big blind versus a 2.2 big blind open from Kubalek, who had queen-eight offsuit.

Már check called a bet of three big blinds on K 10 5 before check-calling again on the 3 turn, this time a wager of 5.5 big blinds. Kubalek surrendered on the board-pairing 3 river, and Már’s pair of tens was good at showdown, and his lead grew.

Kubalek was resilient and fought back, attempting a double-barrel bluff on turn and river with five-high on a flush completed and paired board. However, Már sniffed it out and called with king-high with no heart in hand.

This hand set up Már to regain the majority of the chips in play. Már then jammed ace-three off, and Kubalek snap-called with queens for his tournament life.

The 2 6 10 flop was clean, as was the 8 turn. However, yet another ace from space hit on the A river sealed Kubalek’s fate for good, leaving Már with all of the chips in play, and the Czech national €91,001 richer and his first Festival Series title.

Kare Leads Going Into Final Day 16.06.2025 14:30 by Jonathan Raab

Finland’s Kare Hallamaa has been the runaway leader of the Player of the Series race at The Festival in Rozvadov for the last few days.

the-festival-rozvadov-short-deck-bounty-kare-valtteri-hallamaa-ville-tapani-hakala-5115
Ville Hakala and Kare Hallamaa

On Sunday his nearest challenger, compatriot Ville Hakala, added a further 18 points to his total, seemingly closing the gap to first place to 34 points. However, the Main Event points have not yet been included in the leaderboard and Kare has 17 points for his 33rd place finish, which will be added after the Festival concludes. So Kare actually now has 236 points and is still 51 points clear of his rival. Ville has only closed the gap by one point.

There is nobody else who has a chance to catch Kare, as he is 95 points ahead of third placed ChippingLeaks. The Main Event will award 86 points to the winner, but that won’t be enough for any of the remaining 22 players who made the final day.

We believe the Ville may attempt to multi-table the remaining events in a last ditch attempt to snatch victory. Will be do it? Stay tuned to The Festival in Rozvadov blog to find out.

Action was picked up on the river with Matteo Intiso moving all in for around 500,000 from the big blind on the river of 3 4 6 8 4 .

Rasmus Lundstroem was in the tank contemplating the call, as he would be left short if he called and was wrong. After a minute or so of deliberation, he flicked in the call and tabled 5 5 for two pair.

Intiso tabled J 10 for a complete bluff.

Walter Engelen has cashed in the €550 The Festival Series in 45th place for a score of €1,620. This may not sound much, but he qualified for €1 through a satellite online, winning a €1,850 package to qualify for the Main Event at King’s Resort here in Rozvadov.

That’s all for now. Come back in the afternoon when the Main Event takes full focus and the recap of today’s play.

Dimitri Bogdanov jammed Q 10 for seven big blinds and was called by Blerim Ibrahimi in the big blind who had 6 6 .

Ibrahimi flopped Bogdanov essentially dead on 2 4 6 , and the turn Q confirmed his exit from the tournament. The Q was salt in the wounds as Bogdanov improved to trips and Ibrahimi made a boat.

Vuolle Bubble Boy – Bust By Janavicius 15.06.2025 20:33 by Patrick Cole
the-festival-rozvadov-main-event-day1d-toni-henrik-vuolle-8261

Bubbling a satellite always sucks.

Jonas Janavicius jammed from the button and Toni Vuolle called in the small blind. He had A 6 and was short-stacked, whilst Janavicius had a lot to play with.

The board ran out 4 Q 10 2 3 gave Janavicius top pair and sent Vuolle packing.

Kemal Soenmez finished in the money place for €852, but it appeared to me that he would have been much happier with the ticket.

Beatriz Camino has doubled her short-stack twice on the satellite bubble. She flopped a set with 8 8 having called a shove from the small blind whilst practically all in already in the big blind.

Pavel Stribrny jammed 6 4 and Camino took the pot across the 2 8 Q K J runout.

She was then all in again versus Stribrny with K 10 versus 10 7 . She made a flush across 5 2 2 3 8 .

Bubble Burst in Main Event 1G – Raab Misses Out – Day 2 Starts in 15 Minutes 15.06.2025 16:50 by Patrick Cole

Alexander Raab opened from middle position to 60,000 during level 21. The blinds 15,000/30,000 with a 30,000 big blind ante.

Action folded around and Maxim Ksenofontov moved all in for around 675,000. He had Raab covered and he made the call.

Raab was behind with A 10 and Ksenofontov had 7 7 , making it a fair fight. The Q 4 5 8 K runout meant that Raab would miss out on the €1,000 min-cash and a shot at Main Event glory.

The Festival Series Day 9 – The Main Event Day 2 Field Comes Together, Razz Big Bounty and PLO High Roller Winners Found 15.06.2025 13:30 by Patrick Cole

The Festival Series here in Rozvadov saw the last two non-turbo flights to Day 2 of the series marquee event run at King’s Resort in the Czech countryside – the €550 Main Event. Melvin Schroen’s favorite tournament, the Razz Big Bounty (€100 Bounty) was cancelled, then put “back on the menu” yesterday afternoon, and the first High Roller took place in the shape of the €1,100 PLO.

The two flights that ran yesterday proved to be the busiest yet of this Festival Series so far, with 1E seeing 229 total entrants and 1F gaining 163 total. The tables below offer a comparison between the entries this year and last year.

So far, three players have progressed with a seven-figure stack. In fourth place, with just shy of the one million mark, is Romanian national Marius Alexandru Gicovanu (pictured above), who bagged 973,000.

His Hendon Mob profile is one of, if not the biggest, in the field, with over $2,000,000 in recorded live tournament cashes. Gicovanu also featured in the €1,100 PLO High Roller the very same afternoon, but he was one of the first to depart from the small field event in the four-card streets.

Razz Big Bounty (€100 Bounty)

The only Razz tournament took place yesterday, after a cancellation which came around five minutes after the tournament was due to start due to a lack of entrants. It appeared that the would-be players weren’t in the building yet. A group of Finnish players, including Kare Hallamaa and Ville Hakala made their way down to the floor and registered their interest in Melvin’s favorite tournament.

As players gathered, the tournament was put back on the schedule and started a little later in the day. A small field of 54 total entrants was made up of 32 unique players.

Jon Thannhauser was the unfortunate victim of the bubble, and only three players would make the money due to the small field and the big bounties. He did come away with a few of the €100 bounty tokens, so his effort wasn’t completely in vain.

The tournament did see a big winner. Stefan Petri claimed the €702 first-place prize, plus a staggering 21 bounty tokens, taking his overall tally to just shy of €3,000! Runner-up Enrique Bergemann claimed eight bounty tokens plus €421, making it a German 1-2 in the tournament. Below are the payouts.

€1,100 PLO High Roller

The first High Roller of the series attracted a field of 30 at King’s Resort yesterday afternoon. Leaderboard first and second Kare Hallamaa and Ville Hakala took to the felt but couldn’t find the money, and Richard Koppel was the bubble boy.

Allan Arjut continues to have a brilliant Festival Series after notching his first ever tournament win here, which came in the €125 PLO Knockout on Day 5.

He banked €8,415 for a career-best score for his second-place finish, and will have shot up the leaderboard rankings with this deep run. The winner was “Gold Fisch”, who racked up a score of €11,220 for his effort. The payouts can be seen below.

The final hand played out like this. Arjut had AKK3 vs AAxx. The players took turns potting and repotting until Arjut was all in and at risk.

He flopped a boat on K22. The turn changed nothing but “Gold Fisch” was saved by an Ace from space on the river to lock up the title.

Kare Closing In on Player of Series Title 15.06.2025 12:41 by Jonathan Raab

Three events concluded on Saturday at The Festival in Rozvadov, but there hasn’t been much change at the top of the leaderboard. Kare Hallamaa from Finland still has a 52 point lead over compatriot Ville Hakala, with neither player cashing in further events.

Kare Hallamaa – Catch Me If You Can

The only significant mover on the table is ChippingLeaks, whose 2nd place in the PLO moves him up from 8th to third, but that’s 77 points adrift of the leader.

But, it’s still not over and with two high roller events on Sunday, plus the Main Event still to finish (which will award 86 points to the victor), Kare can still be caught. Will Kare Hallamaa hold on to take the title, or will there be a last minute upset? Stay tuned to The Festival Series blog to find out…

The Razz Big Bounty is down to its final 4 players. Only 3 will be paid due to the Big Bounty nature of the tournament and the 54 total entries the tournament attracted. “EyDuBrot” appears to have the most bounties at the table by a considerable margin, but it is “PATELLA” who leads the waty in chips.

The PLO High Roller has 15 player remaining and only 4 will get paid. Finnish nationals Kare Hallamaa and Ville Hakala remain in contention for additional leaderboard points and a first and second title, respectively.

The Ladies event was unfortunately cancelled earlier this evening due to a lack of entrants.

The Main Event 1E saw 229 total entrants and at the time of writing 47 remain, with 12.5% of the field finding the money and progressing to Day 2.

The Main Event 1F has attracted 136 total entrants thus far, and 101 remain. Registration remains open until 11.55 p.m. local time.

The €200 €30k GTD Friday Texas Hold’em has been in play for an hour and has seen 124 total entrants. Registration closes at 11.55 p.m. local time.

Despite having a big lead, he can still be caught, as the Main Event is the one that awards by far the most points to the top few finishers.

How Are Player of the Series Points Calculated?

So how does this leaderboard work? I can almost hear some of you thinking this as you’re reading it. For the complete rules on how the leaderboard works, there’s an article on the main site that explains it all, but here’s a brief rundown.

Qualifying Events

  • Only tournaments that are open to all count, therefore no leaderboard points for cash game challenge, Festival Queens or the Seniors
  • Satellites do not count either

Participation Points

  • Players get points for simply taking part, but these can only be earned once per tournament, you don’t get extra points for extra bullets.
  • The amount of participation points is based on the buy-in of the event, the full breakdown is in the article linked above.

Base Points

  • Players “in the money” are awarded base points, with 25 awarded to the winner, 20 for second, 18 for third etc.
  • But if there is a deal, the points awarded to those involved in the deal are frozen and all are awarded the points earned by the player in the lowest finishing position in the deal, e.g. if three players, make a deal, they all receive the points awarded for a 3rd place finish.

Multiplier

  • A multiplier related to how many entries there were in the tournament is applied to the base points.

Total Point Per Event = (Base Points x Multiplier) + Participation Points

Schroen Cashes the Texas Turbo Friday Madness – Here’s a Hand 14.06.2025 11:50 by Patrick Cole
The-Festival-Tallinn-220701-Valeri-Mayhem-Bounty-Melvin-M

As the blogger finally emerges this morning and is working on the recap, here is a hand history from last night’s Texas Turbo Friday Madness involving The Festivals’ very own Melvin Schroen.

The blinds were at 1,000/2,000 with a 2,000 big blind ante. Schroen opened from the cutoff to 4,200 and was three-bet by the button to 10,000. The blinds folded, and Schroen called.

He check-called a bet of 6,500 on the flop of K 10 J before the Q was checked around. The 9 put a straight on board, and Schroen checked again. The button then bet 15,000, and after some deliberation, Schroen folded.

He found the money, finishing in 23rd place for his effort, and was coolered in the process. He open-jammed approximately 13 big blinds from under the gun with Kings and was called by the big blind, who was playing a stack of around 15 big blinds. He made the call with fives, and a five in the window sealed Schroen’s fate and sent him up to his hotel room for the night. Unlucky lad!

Hakala Wins the 4/5/6 PLO 12.06.2025 20:24 by Patrick Cole
the-festival-rozvadov-short-deck-bounty-ville-tapani-hakala-5122-1

Ville Hakala has secured his first Festival win this series and his fourth cash in total here in Rozvadov. He beat Leslie Smith heads-up, winning €3,060 in the process.

This is how the winning hand played out: Smith called in the small blind. Hakala raised to pot in the big blind and Smith called.

Smith then led out of turn on the flop of A K 2 before checking. Hakala asked the dealer if Smith’s bet still stands if he checks. Hakala then checked and Smith put in the rest of his chips, around 140,000 into a pot of 420,000. Hakala called.

Hakala had Q Q 7 J and Smith had A 2 5 8 . Smith was ahead with top and bottom pair and the 7 changed nothing.

However Hakala spiked a set on the Q river to finish the tournament.

The blackjack tournament started and ran deep into the night here at Europe’s palace of poker, Kings Resort. Let’s have a look at what happened.

Seniors 50+ Event

Two players took to the felt today looking for a third Festival title. One was Swedish national Joakim Olin, who was looking for a third seniors title.

Unfortunately for him, he couldn’t top the rankings and he departed in sixth place, taking the first of the cash prizes on offer.

The final table resulted in a deal, and it turned out that Olin didn’t, claim the last cash prize, as Angela Jauß received a €300 bubble stipend for her efforts. The final five ICM chopped the rest of the prize pool, and it was Maltese national Joseph Grech who came out on top with the title. Below is the full list of payouts.

Dual Rozvadov winner Horst Boschen couldn’t complete a hattrick in this event and he was one of the first players to take to the table and to depart as he bust within the first few hands.

This bounty tournament saw a total of 102 entrants, with 67 unique players taking to the felt in pursuit of a title and lots of bounties.

The tournament ran deep into the night at King’s Resort, and it was Estonian national Allan Arjut, aka “ChippingLeaks”, who bested Finnish national and Festival Series regular Sami Pullianen heads-up to take down the title. Below is the full payouts exclusive of bounties won.

This is Arjut’s first ever recorded victory across all variants of poker. Arjut has recorded 11 second-place finishes and 6 third-place finishes. Now the Estonian has completed the podium place finishes with a victory here at The Festival Series in Rozvadov.

Still Tight at the Top of the Leaderboard 11.06.2025 11:40 by Jonathan Raab

Just one further event that counts towards the Player of the Series raced was completed on Tuesday, the €125 PLO Tuesday knockout. None of the players who were in the top ten cashed in the event, but the top two both played, picking up additional participation points.

Horst Günter Böschen and Moreno Rutten are now both on 84 points. Kare Hallamaa also played and moved up one spot to 3rd, overtaking Haik Tougu.

Maureen Bloechlinger has now dropped out of the top ten and the news has just come in that she won’t be returning to the Festival later in the week.

There is one significant new entry in the top 10, Nils Doverklint debuts on the leaderboard in 6th place, following his 4th place in the PLO Knockout. But the race is wide open, with only 5 points difference between 1st and 5th place. With most of the big events yet to come, there’s likely to be some big changes at the top of the leaderboard in the next few days.

Norwegian Ronny Albrigsten, flaghunter Koen Roos, everyone’s favourite Antoine Digiorgio, and our last Tallinn Weekender Main Event Champion Risto Viljur.

King’s Resort has seen some resounding numbers so far this series across a range of events, and many more are on their way to the Czech countryside to take part in the festivities on and off the felt.

A further two events concluded on Monday at Kings Casino, where The Festival in Rozvadov is now on its fifth day, but not quite yet at the halfway mark of the 11-day poker extravaganza.

The results have been checked and verified, and I can now reveal that there’s a change at the top of the leaderboard. Haik Tougu hasn’t added any further points to his total since his THMC win and has slipped down to third place. He’s been overtaken by Horst Boeschen and Moreno Rutten, who are tied on 82 points.

Horst added to his PLO win on Friday by taking down the Holdem 6+ (Short Deck), while Moreno has played in almost every event so far and has bumped his score up purely with participation points.

But wait, somebody is missing, there’s absolutely no sign anywhere on the leaderboard of double Player of the Series winner (should have been 3-time, could have been more) Scott “Pokerbrahs” Kenyon. Having not played on Monday, she’s now slipped a little further back on the leaderboard, but could still potentially challenge for the €1,600 Malta package, if she makes a return.

Haik Tougu

The Hendon Mob Championship winner Haik Tougu has taken a narrow lead in the Player of the Series race, with 81 points, 77 of which he banked with his win. However, the Estonian is only 2 points ahead of Moreno Rutten from Netherlands, who has cashed in four events so far at Kings Casino, Rozvadov.

Four of the players in the current top ten are those who made the final table of The Hendon Mob Championship with Omaha Masters winner Oleksandr Sadovyi sneaking into the top ten.

Maureen Bloechlinger currently sits in 5th place with 57 points, having made final tables in both the Friday and Saturday Texas Madness events. She’s unlikely to challenge for the €1,600 Malta package, as she has already returned home to Switzerland. But its only an eight hour drive, so we won’t rule out the possibility that she returns.

Torsten Rink called from under the gun, as did the €150 PLO Championship winner, Horst Boeschen.

The J K J 6 8 runout was checked down by the two non-all-in players. Boeschen believed that Bertoldi had the winner as he tabled 10 7 . Bertoldi had a slightly better holding with 10 9 but it was Rink’s Q 10 for queen-high, which was good enough to secure the pot and Bertoldi’s bounty.

The Festival 2025 Rozvadov – Day 3 Recap 09.06.2025 13:14 by Patrick Cole

Day 3 of The Festival series has seen a record-breaking event champion crowned here in Rozvadov! The latest installment of the Hendon Mob Championship found its latest winner at Europe’s largest poker room, the King’s Resort, and The Festival’s first Schafkopf champion was discovered! Without further ado, let’s jump in.

Partner: The Hendon Mob

Record-breaking Hendon Mob Champion has been crowned!

Haik Tougu of Estonia took the title in the small hours of this morning after a marathon 14-hour session in the King’s Resort cardroom. He bested the record-breaking field of 2,418 across the three-day event here in Rozvadov.

He bested German national Philipp Klok heads-up in just ten hands, due to having a fairly substantial chip advantage, having eliminated three players at the final table before going on to stack Klok.

Tougu has walked away with a career-best cash of €51,300, an incredible return on investment from the €150 buy-in, a total of 343x the buy-in! His largest ever cash before this event came back in 2016. He finished 2nd in a €110 No Limit Hold’em event at the OlyBet series in Tallinn for €2,100.

The Hendon Mob Championship Action

The Day 2 field of 292 condensed to under 100 at a fairly steady pace when the tournament began yesterday at 6 p.m.

The bust-outs eased off around the 65-70 player mark as shorter stacks were absorbed by the bigger stacks around the room. Seemingly, everyone came to play, and with a 20-25 big blind average in play across the room, stacks were fairly shallow. The general quality of play on display was solid from what was seen at the feature table, and I highly recommend that poker fans around the world check out the stream.

Final Table Play

Tougu dispatched four players at the final table, but came into the final table in sixth place, with eventual runner-up Klok coming into the final table in first place, which just goes to show that anything is possible in poker and no deficit is insurmountable given a good string of cards and some run good.

Italian national “Sino” was one of a handful of players to make it into Day 2 with a stack of over 1,000,000 chips. He started in fourth.

Tougu’s spin-up started when he dispatched Lukas Rath in eighth place. He won a flip with pocket fours versus Rath’s ace-queen offsuit after the latter moved all in for five big blinds over Tougu’s early position open to win a 10,000,000 chip pot.

A few hands later, Adrianus van Dongen was on the wrong end of a cooler as he ran pocket Queens into Tougu who woke up with Kings. Van Dongen opened from under the gun before Tougu three-bet from the small blind. Van Dongen called, and the runout was clean for Tougu, and he rocketed up the counts, having won the 60 big blind pot.

the-festival-rozvadov-the-hendon-mob-championship-final-day-philipp-klok-4979

Tougu and Klok tangled throughout. Klok won a classic preflop race with Queens versus Tougu’s ace-king offsuit shortly after scooping the pot with Kings to peg back the eventual winner. He flopped top set to secure a crucial double-up.

The remainder of Van Dongen’s chips eventually found their way into the stack of Tougu when Van Dongen moved all in on the turn of a double flush draw board. Tougu flopped a set of sevens, and Van Dongen couldn’t improve.

Klok eliminated “Max Value” with both players having hit a four-liner to a flush in a preflop all-in situation. Klok made the nut flush with ace-nine offsuit which bested Max Value’s nine-high flush with pocket nines.

Tougu then sent “Doofy Downswinger” to the rail, winning another flip with fives versus “Downswinger’s” king-jack offsuit to take play heads-up with a substantial advantage, before going on to bust Klok after ten-hands of play. Below is the winning hand!

Reigning Festival Main Event Champ Takes to the Field 06.06.2025 16:47 by Patrick Cole

The Festival 2024 Main Event has taken to the field in Day 1A of The Hendon Mob Championship. Bulgarian Presiyan Georgiev Tsvetanov took down the title last year at this very venue in the €550 Main Event and won €90,350 for his effort, €10,350 of which consisted of a Main Event seat to the WSOPE event which ran last October. This score still stands as Tsevetanov’s largest career cash.

the-festival-rozvadov-the-hendon-mob-championship-day1a-presiyan-georgiev-tsvetanov-3648

Tsevetanov also played Day 1C of the Hendon Mob Championship last year and took a massive chip lead into Day 2 of last year’s installment, but despite this, he failed to secure a cash. He did claim another podium finish last year, finishing 2nd for €1,587 in the €125 PLO/PLO8 or Better Event two days later. Maybe this year it could be different, and the Bulgarian will be wanting to secure a piece of hardware from Rozvadov and another special portrait.

King’s Schafkopf Trophy Revelead and Rules Rundown 06.06.2025 16:30 by Patrick Cole

The King’s Schafkopf Trophy has been revealed ahead of Day 1 of the tournament, which starts at 2 p.m. local time tomorrow, Saturday, June 7th. The €190 buy-in event has a €25,000 prize pool, and only one entry is allowed per player. Day 2 starts bright and early at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 8th.

the-festival-rozvadov-trophies-3656-1

Last year, German national Dieter Josef Stapfer topped a world-record-breaking field of 248 players and the lion’s share of the €38,464 prize pool. Stapfer took home €7,100 for his victory in Rozvadov, and it would be no surprise to see him return to King’s to defend his title.

Known as the “King of Bavarian card games”, the classic German card game is sure to prove popular again this year. Schafkopf is played by four people with a special 32-card German deck. The game is all about winning tricks (rounds of cards) and collecting points. The card rankings are displayed below:

  • Trumps: The most powerful cards are the Obers (O), Unters (U), and all Hearts.
  • Side Suits: The other cards are Ace (A), Ten (10), King (K), Nine (9), Eight (8), and Seven (7).

The goal is to score at least 61 points out of a total of 120. Points come from the cards you win in tricks: Aces are worth 11 points, Tens are worth 10, Kings are worth 4, Obers are worth 3, and Unters are worth 2. The other cards (9, 8, 7) don’t have any points.

This year will see 72 unique tournaments, 12 more than last year’s installment, and is equally as diverse in terms of game selection, as you will see from the get-go when the Festival officially kicks off at 11am on the 6th June with a €30 satellite into The Hendon Mob Championship. That being said, let’s dive into the schedule over the opening weekend in a little more depth.

Kicking Off The Festival

The Hendon Mob Championship (THMC) starts the festival with a flourish. The six-flight €300,000 guaranteed event will run from June 6-8th and will be the largest installment of the THMC to date across any venue. Two flights have already run at the King’s Casino in Prague, situated inside the luxurious Hilton Hotel in the nation’s capital. This is the fourth location that the THMC has hosted with The Festival, having run at Dusk Til Dawn (DTD) Nottingham, Portomaso Casino Malta, Banco Casino Bratislava, and King’s Resort Rozvadov.

The tournament will feature 30-minute levels in all flights other than the turbo flight, which will have 15-minute levels. These final flights run on Sunday, which offers a last chance for players looking for a share of the gigantic prize pool. All players will start with a stack of 50,000.

In the last installment in Rozvadov, Iranian Majid Alimoradpour (pictured above) overcame Marek Soukop after a 3-hour heads-up battle to win the title. The duo chopped the money and took home €35,250 each, and a seat at the WSOPE Main event worth €10,350. Alimoradpour also secured a €2,000 package to The Hendon Mob Championship in Cape Town along with the win. Remarkably, this was Alimoradpour’s first recorded cash. Perhaps a similar story could emerge this year?

Off the Felt Activities.

The Festival isn’t just about the cards. There will be an eclectic range of activities for online qualifiers, with the hospitality deal included in their package. The activities are on from flag fall, the first of which is a Boule school hosted by The Festival’s main man, Franke! This activity runs from 2pm to 4pm and offers an introduction to the classic French lawn game.

The following day, qualifiers will get to learn about Molky, a Finnish game that combines bowling and strategy. Franke hosts again and will guide you through the game, which involves throwing a stick at numbered pins. Players must score exactly 50 points, no more, no less, or they are penalised. This activity also runs from 2pm to 4pm.

On Sunday, another Scandinavian game takes centre stage in the form of Kubb. Also known as “Viking Chess”, the game involves throwing wooden sticks at opposing teams’ blocks. Franke takes to the helm on hosting duties again in what is sure to be a fun-filled afternoon in the fresh air, running from 2pm to 4pm.
